Thank you for your interest in Champaign Regional Speedskating (CRS). Our practices
are typically from 6-7:10 PM on Wednesday evenings at the University of Illinois Ice Arena
at 403 E. Armory Drive in Champaign.
I would suggest getting there around 5:20-5:30 to get ready and warm up.
In order to skate you'll need to have (Required):
-helmet (a bike helmet is fine for the first practices, but if they continue with the
sport, they'll need a helmet that meets USS regulations)
-Long Pants (sweats or compression pants work fine. They may get wet,
so additional dry clothes are sometimes in order)
-Long sleeve shirt, jacket or hoody - again, additional dry clothes are sometimes needed
-Gloves (any kind is fine, but most skaters were sport specific gloves or batting
gloves as they commit to the sport)
-Eye protection is also good to have, some skaters just use safety glasses from a hardware store
Optional but recommend:
-Knee protection and shin protection are also good to have. simple sport knee pads and soccer shin pads work well
Registration:
The first 5 practice sessions are free, please go to our website and register as a trial member prior to attending your first session. (http://champaignregionalspeedskating.org/join-us).
After the first 5 practices there are fees and memberships, but we can go over that in person at a later date.
Looking forward to meeting you.
Thank you,
Randy Sears
